Poster Presentation at International Conference - 20/03/2012

Ruth and Ruth enjoyed a very successful conference in Spain this month.

There were a wide range of topics and some excellent and world renowned speakers, including; Dr John Bach, a familiar name in DMD and MND, Dr Luis Goncalves from Portugal, another great researcher, and Dr Michelle Chatwin, expert in respiratory physiotherapy at the Brompton Hospital. 

Ruth Ainley presented work on using the Respironics Cough Assist device in motor neurone disease. It has been successfully used to relieve breathlessness whilst exercising, in a patient who dislikes using a ventilator to exercise. A slightly less conventional use, but has been absolutely invaluable.

Ruth Kent presented her work on increasing the amount of data showing the value of using a Lung Volume Recruitment bag to improve cough strength and efficiency. This from her work on the Lane Fox Unit at St Thomas' Hospital.
