Frequently Asked Questions.
How soon can I be seen?
Appointments are usually available within 3 working days. Urgent respiratory appointments can often be arranged for the same day.
What happens at the first appointment?
All patients will be asked for a full history of their current condition and symptoms, and any other medical problems you have currently or had in the past. Providing your therapist with a list of any medications you take would be helpful.
You will always be fully informed of each step of the examination, and your consent asked at each stage of assessment and treatment.
Goals and treatment plans will be decided by you and your physiotherapist together.
Do you treat children?
Yes , between 12 and 18. Any children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Any staff will have had a DBS check to work with children.
Do I need to be referred by my Consultant or GP?
No, we also accept self-referrals. A letter will normally be sent to your doctor on discharge - with your permission.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
This always varies case by case. Some home management programmes, for example for sputum clearance, can be quickly taught in 2-3 sessions.
Rehabilitation following surgery or illness may take longer.
What does it cost?
Costs vary slightly depending on location, late evening or urgent appointments, and length of treatment. Please call us to discuss your individual case.
We currently work with a few but not all Insurance Companies, please check you are covered before booking an appointment.
